TROCA 50 — Custom 3D-Printed Patellar Groove Implant

Patellar luxation is one of the most common orthopedic conditions, especially in small breed dogs. In many cases, the trochlear groove is underdeveloped or worn, causing the patella to dislocate medially or laterally. Conventional solutions — trochlear wedge or block recession, or standard off-the-shelf implants — rely on fixed sizes that may not match your patient's exact anatomy.

The TROCA 50 eliminates this compromise. Designed from your patient's own CT scan data, the implant's undersurface conforms precisely to the trochlear articular surface, without requiring trochlear osteotomy. Fixation is achieved with standard cortical screws through a minimally invasive approach.

Process:

  1. Submit your case: Send us the CT scan (DICOM format) of the affected limb. CT requirements
  2. 3D visualisation: We create an accurate, high-quality 3D model of the femur within 2 working days for your review.
  3. Implant design: The TROCA 50 implant is custom-modelled to fit the patient's trochlea. You review and approve the design.
  4. Drilling guide design: Two patient-specific drilling guides are designed for precise cortical screw placement.
  5. Manufacturing: Implant produced in medical-grade titanium alloy via DMLS technology. Guides printed in biocompatible polymer.
  6. Delivery: Full kit dispatched by courier, typically within 2–4 weeks of case submission.

The TROCA 50 system includes:

  • 1x anatomical model - original state (for pre-operative planning and owner communication)
  • 1x anatomical model - post-drilling state (to trial-fit the implant before surgery)
  • 2x patient-specific drilling guides for precise cortical screw positioning (one for practice/rehearsal, one for surgery)
  • 1x TROCA 50 implant - medical-grade titanium, DMLS printed
  • Sterilisation & handling instructions
