RADISEC - Custom 3D Antebrachial Osteotomy Guide System for Dogs
Antebrachial deformities in dogs result in angular and/or rotational limb deformities that cause pain, lameness, and progressive joint disease. Surgical correction requires osteotomy of the radius to remove or redirect the deformed segment, followed by stable fixation in the corrected position.
The critical challenge in corrective osteotomy is precision: the cut must be placed at exactly the right location, at the correct angle, to achieve the intended angular and rotational correction. Even small deviations from the planned osteotomy plane can result in under-correction or over-correction, requiring revision surgery.
The RADISEC replaces the uncertainty of freehand osteotomy with a CT-based planned, patient-specific guide system. The cutting guide defines the exact location and orientation of the saw cut. The repositioning guide ensures the bone segments are placed back in the planned corrected position before fixation - eliminating intraoperative guesswork.
Process:
- Case Submission: Attach a CT scan of the affected limb (DICOM format). CT requirements
- 3D Visualization: We will create an accurate 3D model of the affected area for approval within 2 business days.
- Design of Cutting Guides and Repositioning Guides: We design two patient-specific cutting guides and positioning guides to determine the exact location of the cut and to place the bones in the correct position. You review and approve the designs.
- Manufacturing: The templates are printed from biocompatible plastic.
- Shipping: The complete kit arrives by courier, usually within 2-4 weeks of case submission.
The RADISEC system includes:
- 2x patient-specific cutting guides - mark the exact location and direction of the osteotomy cut (one for rehearsal, one for surgery)
- 2x patient-specific repositioning guides - ensure correct angular and rotational alignment of bone segments after osteotomy (one for rehearsal, one for surgery)
- All guides are labeled with Kirschner wire dimensions and unique case identifiers
- Sterilisation & handling instructions
Plates, screws, and implants for fixation are not included and must be sourced separately by the operating surgeon.
