A Bolognese dog was presented with persistent lameness caused by gonarthrosis in the left hind limb. Degenerative changes in the knee joint led to pain, reduced mobility, and compromised joint function, significantly affecting the dog’s quality of life.
In cases like this, conventional treatment options may not provide sufficient long-term relief. That’s when the veterinarian turned to LimesVet for a precise, patient-specific solution.
For this case, we applied the TROCA 50 patellar groove prosthesis system, designed to restore proper patellar tracking and improve joint biomechanics. Thanks to 3D planning and additive manufacturing, the implant completely matched the patient’s anatomy, ensuring accurate fit, optimal alignment, and reliable stabilization of the joint.
One of the major advantages of the TROCA system is that it does not require osteotomy of the patellar groove, allowing for a less invasive procedure while still achieving precise anatomical conformity. This approach reduces surgical trauma and supports smoother, more natural joint movement.

By addressing both the mechanical and anatomical aspects of the condition, the solution helped reduce stress on surrounding structures and supported a more comfortable return to mobility for the patient.

Virág is a Yorkshire terrier who spent her days at a shelter (hosted by Állat és Ember Állatvédő Egyesület \[“Animal and Human” Animal Protection Association]). She could not use her left hind leg due to a congenital disorder. Doctor Seregi, one of the owners of FuzioVet Animal Hospital, was the orthopaedist at the shelter.
