VPS guide

VPS guide

A dog had a quadrigeminal cistern cyst located above the tentorium cerebelli osseum, as well as had tetraventricular enlargement. For this patient, we created a special ventriculo-peritoneal shunt (VPS) guide. The anatomical model clearly showed the dilation of the ventricles and the cystic area. In addition, due to the surgical procedure, we also marked the locations of the major veins on the skull (such as the transverse sinus and the confluence of sinuses), which must be taken into account when determining the position of the shunt catheter. Based on this information, we designed the shunt guide to indicate the appropriate entry point and angle on the skull.
